Our ORCKA courses help you to develop your confidence and paddling skills while on the water. The Basic Canoeing program provides you with a foundation of canoeing skills that will serve you well in most canoeing environments.  The Canoe Tripping courses build upon this foundation and helps to develop your confidence in organizing a canoe trip, traveling through the wilderness, and leading groups of people.

Basic Canoeing Levels 1 , 2, 3, 4

The Basic Canoeing courses help you to build your foundation in basic canoeing strokes, techniques, and rescues.  As you progress through the levels. Your confidence as a paddler will grow.  During the levels 1 - 3 courses, you will paddle with a partner.  The level 4 course is a solo canoeing course. Everything that is needed for the course will be provided.  If you register for 2 days, you will receive a 15% discount on your tuition.

Canoe Tripping Levels 1, 2, 3

The Canoe Tripping courses will aid you in breaking free of the camp grounds.  They will give you the confidence to grab your pack, paddle, and canoe to head out into the backcountry.  During the levels 1 - 2 courses, you will learn the arts of orienteering, back country cuisine, camp craft, and a plethora of other skills needed to make you a competent tripper.  The level 3 course is designed for those who will be leading / guiding groups of people into the back country.

Combined Level 1, 2 Course: Venue @ Algonquin or Mc Crae Lake T.B.A

Combined Level 2, 3 Course: Venue is determined by the group on the course as part of the practical skills application for trip planning

Tuition: $565

Date: Friday evening, June 21-23, 2019 @ Shade's Mills Conservation

           Area, Cambridge

           The theory, canoeing assessments, and trip planning are held on

           the weekend of June 7 - 9th. The course will start Friday evening   

           and continue all day Saturday and Sunday.

           Followed by a 3 day canoe trip to apply the practical skills

           of the course and for you to make a presentation of a

           predetermined topic.
